This month, we’re celebrating the past, present, and future of queer resilience—and the incredible people who make our work possible (yes, that means YOU).
August brings us important dates like James Baldwin’s birthday, Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Sapphic love, and a nod to the legendary Marsha P. Johnson. In this issue of Life Support, our volunteer-led newsletter, you’ll find stories honoring trailblazers like Baldwin and Florence Nightingale, reflections on harm reduction, and ways to stay connected through upcoming training sessions and volunteer opportunities.
We’re also still riding high from our Pups & Pints Volunteer Appreciation Event 🐾 where we celebrated 651 volunteers, 3,607 hours of service, and $72,681 worth of donated time. You all show up in every way imaginable—from pantry shifts and event help to note-writing and napkin-folding. This community thrives because of you.
Highlights in this issue include:
- The Fire Still Burns: An essay on James Baldwin’s enduring legacy
- Sapphic Love: Celebrating sapphic heroes through time
- Harm Reduction 101: Meeting people where they’re at
- Marsha P. Johnson’s birthday tribute
- Volunteer shoutouts + upcoming training dates
