
We’re excited to welcome Christabelle “Cbelle” Fernandez as LGBT Life Center’s new Director of Development! A Hampton Roads native with nearly two decades in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, Cbelle brings experience from the Peace Corps, Operation Smile, and the Virginia Zoo. Her mission? To strengthen the Center’s impact by connecting resources, donors, and vision, ensuring our community continues to thrive.

Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? Hampton Roads native with an undergrad from ODU and an MBA from William & Mary. I’ve spent almost two decades in the nonprofit industry focusing on leadership programs and fundraising. Started my journey in the Peace Corps (Kyrgyz Republic) to Operation Smile, and most recently spent time at the Virginia Zoo supporting wild things in wild places.

How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? The Life Center partnered with my last organization, and through those interactions with their incredible staff, I knew it was a place where I can make an impact in our community.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I’m an only child and a Gemini.
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? Getting to know the staff and donors that drive our mission forward every day.
