Meet Koy — Our New Deputy Director of Client Services

October 15, 2025 by Corey Mohr Leave a Comment

Say hello to Koy Adams (he/they), our new Deputy Director of Client Services! Originally from Syracuse, NY, Koy brings a wealth of experience in relationship violence prevention, HIV/STI work, and case management. With a passion for innovation and community impact, Koy is focused on developing new ideas, strengthening programs, and ensuring our services are the best they can be. Outside of work, you might find them diving into Dungeons & Dragons or reading tarot cards, a skill that started in a gay bar.

Name/Nickname: Koy Adams
Pronouns: He/Him, They/Them
Job title: Deputy Director of Client Services

Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? Originally from Syracuse, NY, worked in a wide variety of stations—domestic/relationship violence prevention, HIV/AIDS and STI work, and a juvenile detention center. Then moved down to the area and worked in case management services

I’m here to help you with…Idea development/innovation, grant analysis/creation, project execution, and above all, trying to see how things can be done even better! 😀

How did you become interested in working at the LGBT Life Center? When I first moved down here, I had no community outside of my family, so this was one of the first places I visited. After learning what it was all about, I wanted to apply my skills in ways that also incorporated some of my research background into community help!

What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? It would probably be tarot card reading. Long story short after a lot of friendly encouragement and help learning small business I read people’s cards at a local gay bar in my hometown before it closed.

What excites you most about being at the LGBT Life Center? Opportunity to help others from a more director and grant/data based position. I think having everyone’s input is the first step to getting it right.

Rapid Fire…what is your favorite…
Animal: Red Panda
Color: Red
Song/Music: most anything from Jhene Aiko
TV Show/Movie: Yu Yu Hakusho (it’s an anime)
Hobby: Dungeons and Dragons
