Sydney “Syd” brings curiosity, compassion, and a genuine love of connecting with others to her role as Program Support Specialist. Whether she’s supporting housing programs, Pride Pantry, outreach, or another area of the Center, Syd is ready to connect people with useful resources while continuing to learn and grow. This fall, she’ll also return to ODU to complete their degree in strategic communications.

Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? My career is not linear due to my many interests and passions; however, the common theme among them all is being a part of the community as a resource and being someone willing to connect with others. Currently, I am on my way to ODU to finish my degree studying strategic communications in the fall.

How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? I’ve only lived in Norfolk for a few years, so I was unaware of the LGBT Center until I was in search of a dentist. I saw a flyer on Instagram for a mobile dentist that comes to the Center. When I came in for my appointment, I was given a lot more information about all the Center does and have been wowed ever since. From there, I kept an eye out for opportunities to join the team and support the mission.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I love to travel, especially solo.
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? What most excites me is the opportunity to connect with people, provide resources to those in need, and learn new things!
