35 years of local history.
We are incredibly proud of our over three decades of history in Hampton Roads, making us the most well-established AIDS service organization in the region. Over the years, we’ve undergone five name changes, multiple mission expansions, significant staff growth, and a complete rebrand in 2017, and our journey is far from over. In 2024, LGBT Life Center is set to open two primary care clinics with on-site pharmacies, a food pantry, and community spaces on both sides of the water—a groundbreaking achievement in LGBTQ+ Hampton Roads history!
LGBT Life Center remains a cornerstone of support, empowerment, and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ and HIV communities in Hampton Roads. From our humble beginnings with Sister Mary Joan and a small group of volunteers to our current team of over 60 full-time employees and 500+ active volunteers, we are dedicated to improving health and wellness, strengthening families and communities, and providing transformative education and advocacy. Our mission is to continuously strengthen and uplift the LGBTQ+ and HIV communities.
