
Meet Mariah, one of the newest faces at LGBT Life Center! After graduating from Christopher Newport University with a degree in Sociology & Criminology, she transitioned from intern to full-time Program Support Specialist, helping clients navigate housing support services. Passionate about making a difference and working alongside a team dedicated to community impact, Mariah is excited to bring her skills and enthusiasm to the Center. Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? I just graduated from CNU (Christopher Newport University) where I studied Sociology & Criminology. This is my first “big girl” job!

How did you become interested in working at the LGBT Life Center? I heard about it through Julie (Snell) because she was a professor for my “Gender, Sexuality & Crime” class at CNU. Through her, I interned at the LGBT Life Center during the Fall, and then started working here full-time after I graduated in December.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I have visited the equator!
What excites you most about being at the LGBT Life Center? Getting to interact with clients and working with people who also want to make a difference within our community
