Job Title at LGBT Life Center: Housing Case Manager
Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? Before I moved to Virginia, I completed my Social Work internship at an Elementary School in Puerto Rico. I conducted interviews with clients and provided case management services, counseling, education, and life-skills training to diverse at-risk students.
I’m here to help you with: Permanent Housing Placement and Short-Term Rent, Mortgage, and Utility assistance under the HOPWA program (English and Spanish).
How did you become interested in this job/type of work? A sense of social justice and passion for helping others are some of the reasons why I became interested in working with communities in need. Additionally, it is very important to me to be able to help the LGBTQ community with their housing needs and homelessness prevention because it is a community I really love.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I’m a Military Intelligence Analyst for the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
What excites you about joining the LGBT Life Center Team? One of the things that excites me the most about joining the LGBT Life Center Team is being part of a team where diversity, inclusion, and a philosophy based on helping communities in need are intrinsic.
