Name & a nickname you go by (if you have one): Lisa Stafford – No nickname!
Current Job Title/Employer: Services Delivery Manager, Microsoft
Past Experience: My background contains a myriad of things I’ve done along the way to finally get to what is my career. For the last 20+ years, I’ve worked for companies such as Philip Morris, Capital One, SunTrust Bank, and Financial Services companies. In my field, PMI (Project Management Institute) offers a certification of PMP (Project Management Professional). I have held this certification for almost 20 years, and served on the Board of Director’s, as the VP of Operations, for The Atlanta Chapter of PMI, one of the largest chapter in the world.
What are some of your skills, abilities, talents?: I love theatre, music, & dance. I am an avid cook, and love cooking on my smoker and entertaining.
How did you become interested in this position?: I was always very integrated in the community prior to our moving out of state 20 years ago. I remember some of the earlier rally’s, bar “raids” by military, and seeing so many of my male friends pass from AIDS. Home holds a special place in my heart. A good friend mentioned the position several months back, before we knew we were staying in the area. My wife and I have just moved back to the area after 20 years. I have a love for this area, and how far we have come with diversity and support for the LGBT community. I want to be able to continue to help foster diversity and inclusion, and ensure the help for those living with HIV/AIDS continues.
What makes our organization’s mission powerful to you?: I come from a time when HIV/AIDs was a death sentence and lost so many dear friends. I remember when this community first began gatherings, which were the roots of what is Pride today. This organizations approach to the community is not just to treat those with HIV/AIDs, but to educate and advocate for the LGBTQ community and those affected by HIV/AIDS. The far reach of the mission revolves around inclusion and diversity.
What is an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know?: I have a love for the Performance Arts (really any performance art). I was a ballroom dancer and ballroom teacher, and in my past was on the theatre stage, or on the screen. I have a movie and a few commercials under my belt from my younger days. I am looking forward to getting back into theatre, now that we’ve moved back to the area.
What would you like to say about joining the LGBT Life Center Board of Directors?: I am thrilled to be joining the LGBT Life Center Board. I look forward to helping the center continue its efforts and to be a part of such a great cause.
