Dear Friends of LGBT Life Center,

2023 has been a year of change, transformation, and renewal. Construction and rebirth will take us into early 2024. By mid-year, these efforts will blossom into an LGBT Life Center that serves both sides of the water with two fully renovated facilities hosting on-site pharmacies, LGBTQ+ affirming clinics with culturally competent staff, and dedicated community space. And as we have for 35 years, we will continue to provide HIV support, care navigation, housing, pantry support, and so much more.

Where we are

3.2 million dollar construction project on a new LGBT Life Center Peninsula Clinic has begun with a 1.8 million dollar renovation appropriation made possible with the support of Congressmember Bobby Scott. This additional location will bring all of our services to the peninsula with a brand new LGBTQ+ clinic, on-site pharmacy, and community center.We also began renovations on our offices at 5360 Robin Hood Road in Norfolk, Virginia, which includes adding an on-site pharmacy, clinic, and community space.
We restructured our administrative team, brought on new talent, expanded our impact, and made serious plans and investments for LGBT Life Center’s future.
We distributed more food through our Pride Pantry than ever before. Over 66,000 pounds of food to community members and families. More than 22,000 pounds of that was for Thanksgiving meals!
In our housing program alone, we provided permanent housing support to more than 388 households – again, more than ever before!
And as always, we continued to provide condoms, HIV/STI testing, treatment, educational trainings, and LGBT-competent services throughout the community.

Where we’re going

Our LIFE-affirming clinics will be more than brick and mortar; they’ll bring evidence-based care that saves lives. With your contribution, we can expand access to affirming care across Hampton Roads. In the coming year, we will strengthen our community with primary care clinics, pharmacies, mental health counseling, HIV/STI prevention, testing, treatment, gathering spaces, and broader community outreach.

This comprehensive approach to well-being is who we are and who we have always been. This foundational strategy has steered our movement from the outset and has been the very means by which we have survived and thrived.
