Our latest volunteer newsletter is here, and it’s packed with the people, programs, and moments that make this work matter. From behind-the-scenes conversations about HIV prevention to community events like Rainbow Prom, this issue gives a real look at how volunteers, staff, and supporters come together to keep our work moving forward.
This month’s issue highlights something we talk about a lot at The Center: connection.
On page 2, we sit down with Keith Floyd, our Patient Intake Coordinator, for a candid conversation about PrEP; what it is, how it works, and why access to prevention matters in our community. It’s the kind of everyday, practical information that helps people take control of their health, and it’s exactly the kind of work volunteers help make possible.
You’ll also find a preview of upcoming opportunities to get involved, including trainings, support groups, and community events throughout April. Whether you’re new to volunteering or have been with us for years, there are so many ways to plug in and be part of this work.
And then there’s Rainbow Prom. This year’s masquerade-themed event is more than just a celebration; it’s about creating space for LGBTQ+ youth to show up as themselves, safely and joyfully. As highlighted on pages 4–5, it takes a community to make that happen, from sponsors to volunteers to the people who show up and make it unforgettable.
Throughout the newsletter, you’ll see what makes this community special: people showing up for each other. Whether it’s helping someone access care, supporting a young person, or simply being present, every role matters.
We’re glad you’re reading—and we’re grateful you’re part of it.
