Name/Nickname: Megan Lynn Champion / Meg
Pronouns: She/Her
Job title: Community Health Navigator
Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? I recently transitioned into the reserves after serving five years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. My background is a bit of a mix, I served as a Sonar Technician hunting submarines, and as a certified SAPR Victim Advocate, supporting survivors of sexual assault and trauma.
Before the military, I worked in the medical field as a certified phlebotomist and trainer. While drawing blood and processing labs is fun, I’ve always been intrigued by how people learn, so I took a deep interest in creating individualized training materials to fit different learning styles. Currently, I’m in nursing school pursuing my RN. My goal is to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with a specific focus on addiction medicine and substance abuse counseling.
I’m here to help you with…I’m here to help clients and colleagues navigate the essentials of health and stability. You can come to me for HIV/STI testing, counseling, and help accessing PrEP, PEP, or DoxyPEP.
I also assist with connection to other resources like health benefits, housing, mental health services, transportation, and food. Beyond the official list of services, I’m a problem solver by nature. If there is a way I can help you or a client get what they need, I’m going to find it.
How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? To be completely honest, I didn’t know the Center existed until I started searching for medical roles in the mental health field. I actually had a tough choice to make; I was offered a position here and a position at Eastern State Hospital at the same time.
Even though Eastern State aligned perfectly with my studies, my interview with LGBT Life Center was the best I’ve ever had. The environment felt welcoming, comfortable, and genuinely positive. I just knew instinctively that this was the right place for me to grow professionally.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I absolutely love creating instructional designs. I enjoy teaching and creating graphic design materials for learning, especially when it involves tailoring plans for people with different learning styles or disabilities.
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? After meeting the leadership team, my vision for the future really shifted. I am so excited to grow alongside this organization. I’m full of ideas and eager to eventually use my PMHNP credentials to provide the kind of inclusive, high-quality psychiatric care that our community deserves.

Color: Orange, yellow, and blue
Song/Music: “King for a Day” by Cameron Whitcomb. Otherwise, you’ll mostly hear me listening to “emo kid music.”
TV Show/Movie: The Crow (1994). I’m not much of a TV person!
Hobby: With nursing school, the military, and three kids, free time is non-existent. But when I find it, I love doing my nails, reading non-fiction, and listening to music.
