Finding Community Beyond Pride: July’s Volunteer Newsletter is Here
Pride Month may be behind us, but at LGBT Life Center, Pride is something we live every day. The July issue of Life Support is a vibrant reminder that community, connection, and care continue all year long.
In this issue, we explore how folks are finding belonging beyond parades and parties—whether it’s through support groups, drag pageants, or kickball leagues. Highlights include:
🌈 “Finding Community Year-Round” – A heartfelt piece on how Pride doesn’t end on July 1, and how everyone—whether loud and proud or quietly following along—has a place here.
👑 “United in Drag” – A feature on the Unity Pageant and its powerful celebration of drag artistry, with interviews from this year’s winners, Skarlett Letter and Carlos Ova-Dupree.
🏳️⚧️ International Non-Binary Day – A look at the history and importance of July 14th, with practical info on gender marker changes in Virginia and tips on using respectful pronouns.
⚽ “A League of Their Own” – Stonewall Sports Norfolk is set to host Nationals in 2026! This feature dives into the league’s growth, its DEI commitments, and how it’s creating joyful, inclusive spaces off and on the field.
Plus, there’s a full calendar of support groups and events happening across Hampton Roads, and a spotlight on our incredible volunteers and staff who make this work possible.
