Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? I previously worked with the STOP organization, where I assisted both veterans and non-veterans through the SSVF and TANF programs. I am currently completing my undergraduate degree at Old Dominion University, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Political Science. Upon earning my bachelor’s degree, I plan to pursue my MSW with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
I’m here to help you with… At the center, I serve as the Housing Program Support Specialist for the Hampton location. In this role, I assist with the Pride Pantry, Coordinated Entry, and Homeless Matching Assessments. I support individuals seeking assistance with housing-related needs such as rental assistance, utilities, and security deposits. Individuals in need of food items are also welcome to seek assistance from me.
How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? I became interested in working at the center because advocacy is a core passion of mine, and I value being part of a space that is affirming and inclusive in meaningful ways. I deeply appreciate the mission the center stands for and the impact it has within the community. Being part of this work allows me to align my values with my professional goals, and I am committed to contributing in a way that supports, uplifts, and empowers the individuals we serve.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? Something many people don’t know about me is that I’m an avid reader and set a personal goal to read 100 books this year on my Kindle. I’m also Jamaican and have a strong love for traveling, road trips, in particular, are my favorite way to unwind and discover new places.
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? What excites me most about being at LGBT Life Center is the opportunity to work in an inclusive and affirming environment where individuals feel seen, valued, and supported. Being part of a space that prioritizes equity, advocacy, and community truly aligns with my values and motivates me to contribute meaningfully to the work being done
