Hampton Roads Residents Featured in Doc: “Surviving Voices: HIV Lifetime & Long-Term Survivors”

June 12, 2025 by Corey Mohr Leave a Comment

In a moving new documentary short, three longtime friends of LGBT Life Center — Gregg Fordham, Ricky Stith, and Paula Ray-Hinton — share their powerful personal journeys as survivors of the HIV epidemic. Their stories are raw, honest, and rooted in love.

This film is more than a look back — it’s a reflection of who we are as a community and why LGBT Life Center exists. Gregg, Ricky, and Paula don’t just speak to survival; they embody resilience, hope, and the profound strength of community care.

One quote in particular resonates deeply:
“Fill life with as much love as [you] possibly can.”

That message is the heart of LGBT Life Center’s work, and the journeys of these survivors. Founded in the midst of the AIDS crisis, LGBT Life Center was born out of a need for compassion and community. Today, while we continue our work as a public health organization, our legacy is one of radical care, joy, and collective strength.

We are endlessly grateful to Gregg, Ricky, and Paula — not only for sharing their stories, but for the decades of service, advocacy, and love they’ve poured into Hampton Roads.

Their courage reminds us that HIV is not just a virus — it’s a story of survival, overcoming stigma, community, and healing.
