
Brandon Okubo recently joined LGBT Life Center as a Housing Specialist, bringing a background in human services and a clear focus on helping people stay housed. After graduating from Old Dominion University and interning with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, he’s ready to put that experience into action, supporting clients and helping them maintain stability.

Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? I went to college at Old Dominion University and interned at The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, I graduated last year with a bachelor’s in human services and a minor in Psychology.
I’m here to help you with…I am here to help underprivileged people get their fair shot in life. If people do not have a place to sleep, then they cannot truly enjoy what life has to offer. I hope that I can keep as many people in their homes as possible.
How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? I was given a recommendation to apply to the Life Center by my supervisor at the Foodbank; she was a former medical case manager for the Life Center.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I was a choir singer in high school
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? I am excited to help my clients in any way possible and get some work experience under my belt.
