Name/Nickname: Sasha
Pronouns: She/Her
Job title: Social Media and Marketing Coordinator
Where’d you come from and what’d you do there? I’m coming straight out of Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. While in school, I did 3 internships that focused on social media management, content creation, and branding.
I’m here to help you with…I’m here to help strengthen our social media presence by growing both our engagement and our reach. My goal is to showcase the incredible work happening across the Life Center, capture the energy of our events/staff, and create content that feels authentic, welcoming, and community-centered. I want our social media to not only inform people about our services but also bring the LGBT Life Center to life.
How did you become interested in working at LGBT Life Center? When I was exploring the website, I was impressed by the range of programs and how accessible they are to the community. That really sparked my interest because it aligned with what I value most in my work. I believe in the power of storytelling to connect people, and I’ve always been drawn to work that has a positive impact. Doing what’s right, helping others, and creating content with purpose are all important to me, so working for a nonprofit like the LGBT Life Center felt like a natural fit.
What’s an interesting thing about you that most people don’t know? I’m in multiple pages of the City of Hampton’s tourism magazine, and I am a cartoon artist.
What excites you most about being at LGBT Life Center? Connecting people with resources they may not have known existed and helping make those resources more accessible through storytelling. I’m also excited to continue learning more about the LGBTQ+ community and its diverse experiences. As my first post-graduate job, I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming environment to begin my career.
