ANNUAL EVENT

Dinner Is Served

LGBT Life Center invites you to be a part of Dinner Is Served 2018!

Dinner Is Served is an event where individuals graciously offer their space and time to host a party on our behalf. Hosts invite guests to dine and donate in support of our mission here at LGBT Life Center. In return for donations and efforts, all hosts and guests are invited to close the evening with a champagne and dessert after-party hosted by LGBT Life Center.

Host

Ready to host a party this October? Most parties will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, although you can host a party at any date and time. To become a Dinner Is Served party host, complete the Host Agreement form below and start brainstorming your guest list. LGBT Life Center will provide all the marketing materials, training, and personal invitations for your party.

Celebrate

Invite your friends and family to celebrate for a cause. Pick a theme, throw a backyard barbecue, or cater dinner for 100. It’s entirely up to the host to make it fun and unique.

Donate

Encourage your guests to donate during your party. We’ll provide donation envelopes and agency materials to ensure your party is a success. All funds stay in Hampton Roads to support LGBT Life Center programs and services benefiting the HIV and LGBTQ communities.

Join the After Party

If you’ve attended a Dinner Is Served Party, you can get your after party ticket(s) from your host. But, whether you’ve attended a Dinner Is Served party or not, everyone is welcome to attend the after party, where guests and hosts come to celebrate the night with music, libations, delicious desserts and more! Dinner Is Served After Party on October 21, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:30 PM at The Mambo Room, located at 400 B W. 21 Street, Norfolk, VA 23517. For more information, please visit our Facebook event page.

FAQs

What is the LGBT Life Center?

LGBT Life Center (formerly ACCESS AIDS Care/The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads) provides programs and services to individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS in Hampton Roads. Our services include medical case management, housing, meals, transportation, outreach, prevention, education, and free HIV/STI testing. LGBT Life Center provides a safe space, services, resources, education, and support to the LGBTQ community in Hampton Roads.

Should I set a fundraising goal?

Having a goal is always helpful when throwing a party with a purpose. Your guests know what to expect and you can relay this message throughout the night. Setting a suggested donation amount is useful as guests will not have to designate a specific donation amount. However, you want guests to maximize their efforts as we come together for this special night.

How do I ask for donations?

We’ll provide you with LGBT Life Center materials and donation envelopes to display at your party. You can talk to your guests individually or make a presentation about why they should support our mission. Get creative! Let your guests know how passionate you are about our work and the community we serve. Once they see how much you care, they’ll be more than happy to donate to such a great cause.

Where do I return the donations?

Please bring all donations to the after-party the night of October 21, 2017. If you are unable to attend, we can arrange a time to drop off your donations at the agency. Donation pickup can be arranged as needed.

What is the after-party?

In return for your hosting efforts and guest’s donations, your party is invited to join us for the Disco Diva’s themed after-party hosted by LGBT Life Center. Desserts, wine, and champagne will be provided. Additional tickets for non-party guests will be sold at the door.
